🌿 From Teacher to Counselor: A New Chapter

After more than thirteen years as both a general education and special education teacher, I am ready to step into the next chapter of my life — one rooted in counseling, human connection, and creative healing. My experiences across grade levels have given me a deep understanding of the emotional landscape students and educators navigate every day. I have witnessed firsthand the rising levels of anxiety among young people and the increasing pressures placed on teachers, all striving to meet high expectations in a rapidly changing world.

These experiences have strengthened my desire to pursue a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MS CMHC) from a CACREP‑accredited program, followed by licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). My goal is to begin as a school counselor, supporting students where their needs are most visible, and eventually transition into art‑based therapeutic work with individuals across the lifespan.

I have always been fascinated by the human mind — why people think, feel, and behave the way they do, and how culture shapes our inner worlds. People’s stories, identities, and resilience inspire me. Counseling feels like a natural extension of the curiosity, empathy, and presence I have brought to my classroom for over a decade.

This next step is not just a career change; it is a calling. I am ready to bring my experience, compassion, and creativity into the counseling field and support others in finding clarity, healing, and hope.
