Introducing Multiplication and Division
Introduce students to topic using a anchor chart, then grab some manipulatives from your teacher closet and create arrays.
After one week of practicing multiplication and division, we ended our topic by creating multiplication and division cities that were Pinterest inspired. My students loved being able to mix some art with fun. I set some rules ahead and gave them some examples of what the finished project should look like. Students were told to (1.) Have a minimum of three buildings (2.) Must have three multiplication and division problems to go with the picture (3.) They must be neat and not rush through there project. When the projects were completed I created a self -made rubric to grade students work.
A wonderful book for introducing division „here“.
