Readers Workshop

I combine my readers workshop with my classroom work centers. We complete shared reading (20 - 25 min), Independent reading (10-15min.) and guided reading. At the end of reading we share for 5 - 10 min. Students know the rules to keep eyes on text, use close reading).

During guided (small group) reading we use KWL charts, choral reading, partner reading and discuss the book read while decoding, checking for fluency, checking for comprehension and inferring.
